What is Copyright?
Copyright is a legal right granted to the creator of an original work. It gives you the exclusive right to control the reproduction, distribution, and adaptation of your work.
While copyright protection is automatic upon creation, Registration is crucial as it acts as prima facie (first sight) evidence of ownership in a court of law, making infringement suits much stronger.

How long is copyright protection valid?
Copyright protection generally lasts for the Lifetime of the Author plus 60 years after their death. For corporate works, it is 60 years from the date of publication.
Is registration mandatory?
Protection is automatic upon creation. However, registration is highly recommended because the certificate is mandatory to initiate any legal proceedings for infringement in a court of law.
Can I register computer software/code?
Yes. Computer software (Source Code and Object Code) is registered under the Literary Works category. We assist in preparing the mandatory documentation (Code Snippets, etc.) for the application.
