Why Change Your Name?
A name change is essential when the original name is no longer relevant due to change in business activity, merger/acquisition, or simply for a better brand identity.
The change takes effect only after the new name is approved by the MCA and the Certificate of Name Change is issued. Until then, the old name must be used for all purposes.

How many names can I propose?
You can propose up to two names in Form RUN for reservation. The name should not be identical to an existing company and must not violate any trademark.
Can a company change its name if it has overdue filings?
No. The company must be fully compliant with all annual filings (AOC-4, MGT-7/7A) and have no overdue returns or unpaid penalties before applying for a name change.
Do I need to update the name on GST, Bank, etc.?
Yes. Once the MCA issues the new certificate, you must update the name on your PAN, GSTIN, Bank Account, Shops & Establishment License, and all commercial documents.
